Wilma Jean passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the age of 82. She was born in Rome, GA on June 10, 1943 to the late Annie Lou and W. H. “Homer” Comer.
Wilma Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband David, her loving parents Annie Lou and Homer Comer, and an older sister Patsy Ann Richardson.
Those who knew her, knew of her ingrained love for animals of every kind. The same is to be said for babies and children. They brought a special kind of joy to her she didn’t seem to find anywhere else. She attended church at Farill Baptist Church near her home.
A familiar presence in many lives, she had a multi-faceted spirit. Though she possessed a gentle and loving heart, she was most known for her feisty, fighting nature. Loved by many across the years she leaves behind her niece, Sherry Hendon; her nephews, Jeffery Richardson, Terry Richardson, Bradley Richardson, and their spouses; as well as a growing circle of great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service celebrating Wilma Jean’s life will be held at Floyd Memory Gardens on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
The pallbearers escorting Wilma Jean to her final resting place will be Curt Hendon, Michael Richardson, Colton Richardson, Luke Richardson, Collin Hendon, and Cole Hendon.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
