Yvonne Zelma White, a devoted mother, grandmother, and dedicated houseparent, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the age of 88.

Yvonne was born on August 8, 1934, and throughout her rich life, she touched countless hearts and nurtured numerous lives. Her tireless dedication and love extended far beyond her immediate family, as she dedicated many years of her life as a houseparent at the Georgia School for the Deaf (GSD). There, she created an atmosphere of care and acceptance for countless students, becoming a beacon of support for the school community.

In her personal life, Yvonne was a devoted wife to her husband, Edward “Butch” White, for more than five decades. The couple shared an immense bond of love, companionship, and shared passions. Her favorite pastime was enjoying the tranquility of the outdoors, often spending quiet mornings on her porch with a cup of coffee, the crisp morning air serving as a backdrop to her serene routine.

Yvonne had a profound love for the music of country legend George Jones. His songs formed the soundtrack of her life, providing comfort, companionship, and entertainment throughout the years.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Butch, Yvonne leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. She is survived by her loving daughter, Tonya Matthews, and her cherished grandchildren, Brandin Miller and Darion Freeman, who will miss her deeply but find comfort in the beautiful memories she has left behind.

The world is a little less bright without Yvonne’s presence, but her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Yvonne’s spirit, resilience, and love will forever be a part of the hearts she touched. The family will provide service times and dates in the near future.
