Zettie Wester Obituary
Mrs. Zettie Barkley Wester, age 86, of Rome died Monday morning September 25, 2017 in a local health care center.
A native of Murray County, GA Mrs. Wester was born January 8, 1931, daughter of the late John and Ellie Breeden Barkley. She had been a resident of Rome most of her life and was a member of New Armuchee Baptist Church. She worked in several area fabric shops, but her greatest love was the time she could spend with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, a great cook, a seamstress, and an artist. She had a feisty spirit and would stand up for her family unconditionally. She loved road trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains and back home to Chatsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Eugene Wester April 28, 2013 and by her siblings Johnny, Keith, Ann, and Maggie.
Survivors include four daughters: Brenda Moore, Linda (Jack Jr.) Dollar, Janice (Carl) Hilburn, and Donna Wester; brothers Frank, Jim, Gus, Morris, Robert, and Joe; sisters Sara and Jane. Eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday, September28, 2017 at the New Armuchee Baptist Church with her brother, Reverend Jim Barkley, Reverend Harold Elrod, and her grandson Reverend Andy Dollar officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until the service hour. Grandson will serve as pallbearers and include Adam Welchel, Johnny Hilburn, Andy Dollar, Steven Hilburn, Roger Moore Jr, Trey Parker, Dylan Amos, and Ty Parker.
